Low rolling resistance is a key performance requirement of electric vehicle tyres, as lower rolling resistance means better energy efficiency, a key factor determining how far an electric vehicle can travel on a single charge. At the same time, batteries add significant weight to electric vehicles, which means that electric vehicle tyres need to carry more load. Furthermore, EV motors run quietly, which makes the noise from the road and tyres more noticeable.
In order to fully respond to the specific needs of electric vehicles, Falken's new e.ZIEX tyres have been designed with "e.ZIEX" has been created with "4D NANO DESIGN" technology, which provides improvements in terms of fuel efficiency and handling and takes full advantage of this new raw material compound.
In addition, the tyre profile has been optimised by reducing the tread width in the shoulder section, thus improving the homogeneity of the contact pressure for greater load resistance. In addition, the "e. ZIEX" incorporates the proprietary "SILENT CORE" (Special Noise Absorbing Sponge Technology) for a quieter ride all round.
Speaking at the first shipment event attended by senior executives, Sumitomo Rubber AKO CEO Toshihiko Komatsu said, "As a company, we are happy to be able to serve the environment and society by catching up with the dynamics of changing world. The new Falken e.ZIEX will be offered to consumers in 11 different sizes in the range of 17-21 inches and 40-65 series in the last quarter of 2023.
